Through An Unimaginable Loss

How Our Community Can Make A
Meaningful Difference

JDS Bath has always looked for ways to help people throughout Central Virginia. From food and toy drives to animal fundraisers, supporting others matters to us.

But this time is different.

This time, we’re asking our community to help someone who’s part of our family.

Brandon grew up around people we’ve known and worked beside for decades. He followed his dad, Paul, into tile installation and even lent his talents to JDS Bath projects over the years.

Although he was still a young man, Brandon passed away unexpectedly. Rather than looking forward to the future they had envisioned together, his wife, Kennedy, was left to face life without him.

His loss has affected everyone who knew him, both inside and outside the JDS Bath family.

We may not all be related by blood, but family can also be made up of the people you grow alongside, work with, and care about deeply.

Brandon will always be a member of the JDS Bath crew.

Now, we’re asking for your help supporting his family.

Brandon Followed In His Dad’s Footsteps

Paul has been installing tile since he was 16 years old. Long before joining JDS Bath, he was already building a career around the craft.

When Paul married Vickie, he adopted Brandon and raised him as his own son. As Brandon grew up, he spent plenty of time watching his dad work.

Tile installation became something they shared.

Brandon learned the craft by spending time beside Paul. Eventually, he followed the same path and became a talented tile installer himself.

The skills Paul spent decades developing were passed from father to son.

Brandon became a second-generation tile installer, carrying forward a craft he’d been around since childhood.

Brandon Became Part Of The JDS Bath Family

As Brandon developed his own tile installation career, he never stopped working alongside Paul.

When Paul had a larger tile project for JDS Bath, Brandon would step in and help. He knew the work, understood the craft, and shared the same passion for tile installation as his dad.

Brandon wasn’t a full-time JDS Bath employee. But titles don’t always tell the full story of someone’s place within a family.

Paul and JDS Bath’s owner, Mr. Rickard, have known each other for around 20 years. That means Mr. Rickard had the opportunity to watch Brandon grow up and eventually see him work beside his dad.

To us, Brandon was never simply someone who occasionally helped with a project. He was someone we’d watched grow up, work beside his dad, and become part of our lives.

He was family.

One Morning Changed Everything For Brandon’s Family

Brandon was still young – just 31 years old. He had a wife, Kennedy, seven children, and a life with the people who loved him.

Then, without warning, everything changed.

One Thursday morning, Kennedy realized Brandon was running late for work. When she went to check on him, she discovered he had passed away.

One moment, Brandon was there. The next, he wasn’t.

Kennedy was suddenly grieving her husband while facing a future she never expected. She also had to consider how she’d provide for seven children on her own.

For years, her work had been raising their family as a stay-at-home mom. It’s one of the most demanding responsibilities anyone can take on. Unfortunately, keeping seven children cared for doesn’t always translate neatly onto a traditional resume.

Kennedy and her children are now navigating unimaginable grief alongside very real financial concerns.

And no family should have to carry all of that alone.

Help Us Help Brandon’s Family

JDS Bath has supported many fundraisers and community organizations throughout Central Virginia. Most of those efforts begin with seeing people or animals in need.

This time, the need is within our own family.

A GoFundMe was created to help Kennedy and her seven children. Early donations have helped address funeral expenses, but their immediate needs extend far beyond those costs. There are still groceries to buy, rent to pay, and seven children to care for.

Kennedy also needs time to grieve while figuring out what comes next.

Right now, there isn’t anything we can do to change what happened or take away this family’s grief. What we can do is show up for them during a time when everyday needs haven’t stopped.

Paul and Vickie are family. Brandon was family. Kennedy and those seven children are family, too.

If you’re able to give, please consider donating to the GoFundMe created for Brandon’s family.

Help us help them carry some of the weight they never expected to face alone.

At JDS Bath, we’re asking our Central Virginia community to help us support Brandon’s family during an incredibly difficult time. If you’re able to give, please consider donating to the GoFundMe created for Kennedy and their seven children.

Every donation can help with the everyday needs that continue while they grieve and determine what comes next. Please donate today and help us be there for a family that means so much to us.
