Giving to those in need is critical for a community to thrive. And for JDS Bath, we’re a bathroom remodeling company in Central Virginia that cares about doing our part.
A few years ago, we decided to start a food drive, and after the first one, we realized we could do more.
Helping those in need is something we’re passionate about, just as passionate as we are about delivering outstanding bathroom remodels.

Humble Beginnings
It was the summer of 2022, to be exact, late July. We’d completed our Frontline Hero bathroom remodel, and the ladies of JDS Bath were discussing further ways to give back to our community. After some brainstorming, they decided to find a local community outreach center to donate to during the holiday season.
One of our team members, Pamela, reached out to several programs. And the Chesterfield Food Bank Outreach Center contacted her.
Pamela spoke with the center’s director, and they discussed donation shortages.
For food donation centers, there are busy times when many people give, and other times when it’s less thought about. Pamela discovered that there’s an overwhelming amount of donations during the summer and over the holiday season, but donations begin to run short during the fall and winter.
She took her findings to JDS Bath’s owner, Mr. Rickard. And upon learning about this, he decided that the JDS Bath Crew would host a food drive.
A Drive To Do More
We asked ourselves, how can we do more?
Once reaching a position where lending a hand to those in need is possible, how can we not?
Our first food drive collection took place from August 28th, 2022, to October 28th, 2022. Pamela, along with another team member, Rachael, delivered the collected food to the Chesterfield Food Bank Outreach Center during the first week of November.
They were grateful for such an effort.
While at the center, the ladies discovered that during the slow times of year, if there aren’t enough food donations, the center would use monetary donations to buy more food for those in need.
Upon returning to the office, Mr. Rickard was saddened to hear that the food bank had to spend the center’s charity contributions to ensure they could feed everyone in need.
Thus, we needed to do more.
And we would.
Our second food drive began the following January and ran through the end of February. Our goal was simple. We were going to help replenish the center’s supply after the holiday donations began running low.

Once we delivered our second collection to the center, our path forward was pretty much set in stone. We would conduct our food drive twice a year. Assisting with offsetting the food shortage really means a great deal to us. And helping others is part of who we are at JDS Bath.
Almost everyone knows the feeling of being without. The stress. The fear. The uncertainty of not knowing where your next meal is going to come from or if you’ll be able to feed your children.
It can be overwhelming.
We understand that feeling. And we’re more driven than ever to continue doing our part.
Kindness and compassion are something we strongly believe in. So do many of our clients. They want to give, and we offer a safe and trusted place to do so, open during regular business hours.
