Help Samuel’s Friends Is Our Central Virginia Fundraiser For Animals

Quick Summary

A bathroom remodeling company supports its community through seasonal donation drives and an annual fundraiser that benefits a local animal welfare organization. The campaign runs for a set time each year, contributes a portion of project sales, and also accepts monetary and supply donations. The nonprofit uses these gifts to support rescue efforts, basic pet resources for families in need, and temporary care options that help keep pets safe during difficult transitions.

Care For Animals Throughout Central Virginia

We’re Bathroom Remodelers Who Believe
In Uplifting Our Entire Community

While known for our exceptional bathroom remodeling throughout Central Virginia, JDS Bath has been exploring many avenues to serve our community better.

We organize a food drive twice a year in partnership with the Chesterfield Food Bank Outreach Center. We also run a toy drive during the holiday season in partnership with the Central Virginia Toys for Tots branch.

There are many families in need, and we do what we can to extend a helping hand.

But we’ve taken another step.

We’re also working to help animals throughout Central Virginia. And JDS Bath’s Help Samuel’s Friends fundraiser for the Richmond SPCA is how we do it.

What Inspired The Creation Of Help Samuel’s Friends?

Meet Sebastian.

He’s a plump cat.

When he was about two weeks old, his mother was hit by a car in the city, and Sebastian was found crying in a dumpster.

Soon after, one of our team members, Rachael, became his human mom.

Very early on, Rachael could tell Sebastian was sad. So she gave him a small stuffed teddy bear to play with. And from that day forward, he would take it everywhere with him. From his food dish to the sofa and everywhere in between, his new pal stayed with him. Sebastian had bonded with the teddy bear.

Then, Samuel came home.

Samuel’s a white German Shepard. And Sebastian adopted him as if he were Samuel’s big brother (although Samuel is quite a bit larger). He would even leave his teddy bear next to Samuel to keep him company.

Sebastian adored his new family. He began his life under tough circumstances, and through the love and care he received, he’s now flourishing and returning that love tenfold.

This was the inspiration for Help Samuel’s Friends.

And we wanted to see if we could help other little Sebastians out there.

Our Fundraiser & Donations

Once we began our search for a local organization to donate to, one of our team members, Pamela, reached out to a few organizations. The Richmond SPCA rose quickly to the top of our list.

People we know had volunteered there. We also had references, and we spoke with their director. Everything came together, and a partnership was born.

Our annual Help Samuel’s Friends Fundraiser takes place during March and April each year. A portion of every bathroom remodeling sale made is donated to the fundraiser. We also have a donate button on our site, and people can drop off pet supplies at our office. Anything from dog or cat food to toys and other supplies will help.

The Richmond SPCA

The Richmond SPCA is a private, nonprofit humane society. They offer low-cost pre-vet care funded by donors and a pet training facility. That’s in addition to their huge dog and kitten rescue.

The Richmond SPCA also has a pet pantry, where people can donate supplies. And it’s where, if a pet owner runs low on supplies, dog or cat food, cat litter, etc., they can come and get what they need. No questions asked.

It’s not only dogs and cats that are welcome. The Richmond SPCA will take in any animals that they can. Then they’ll transfer the animal to a place that can care for it.

Another fantastic program they provide is assisting with pet owners who have been displaced. Many places don’t allow pets. So, whether it’s due to job loss or a natural disaster, if someone no longer has a home for their pet, the Richmond SPCA will take it in. They’ll house and care for the pet until the owner can bring it home.

This is all free of charge and not something offered by every animal shelter. There’s also a summer day camp for kids, a one-mile doggy jog, a 5k, and a block party.

These are just some of the wonderful reasons JDS Bath partners with the Richmond SPCA. We’re all pushing for the same goal – taking care of our four-legged (most of them) friends.

JDS Bath is always looking to help. From people to animals, we’re bathroom remodelers with a heart for helping others.
